What are hotlines?

A hotline is defined as "a direct phone line set up for a specific purpose, especially for use in emergencies or for communication between heads of government."

But hotlines are not just for emergencies or for government calls: hotlines are invaluable resources that can be used by anyone, at almost anytime. Below are three examples of hotlines, but many more exist.

988

is the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It is free, confidential, and open 24/7.

SAMHSA

is a hotline @ 1-800-662-4357 that is also free, confidential, and open 24/7.

NAMI

is a hotline available @ 1-800-950-6264. It is open Monday-Friday, 10am - 10pm E.T.
